THE TOWER (cont.).
The cast iron box section downpipes taking rain water from the gutters are worthy of note. In 1996 the majority were broken or split, and the cost of replacement would have been prohibitive. A local builder, Doug Caines, came to the rescue, with the approval of the Diocese, by repairing the pipes and brackets using fibreglass. Can you spot where the repairs have been made?
Before leaving the churchyard, do take a few minutes to admire the magnificent Chestnut and Yew trees, and the view to the East, looking out to the Dorset hills.
