Annual General Meeting - April 25th 2010
Chairman’s Remarks

I think it is only right that I should start off my ‘Remarks’ by remembering the loss of our organist Quentin McConnell.  Quentin was organist for over 14 years for both Odcombe and Montacute and his death touched us all.  Besides being an excellent organist, he was simply a lovely man.  He had that treasured virtue of humility enhanced with a wonderful sense of humour.  We miss him very much.

We have to thank Chris Jones for many occasions standing in as organist both here and at Montacute.  However, as you know, we do have gaps some Sundays frequently filled in by Angela Cottrell and, on your behalf I would like to thank her.  We may wish to consider investing in some technology.  Montacute has installed a system whereby we can have organ music through a speaker system.  Montacute only uses this when we cannot get an organist.  Organists being very scarce this technology could become a valued backup.

I know I say every year, and I do not apologise for doing so, thank you Churchwarden, Treasurer, PCC Secretary and all of you who enhance our common life together.  I do hope as many of you as possibly can, will be at our Annual Church Meeting.  I look forward to another year with you.

Above all thank you for the past year.
